LOVE
FIELD FACTS
•
Owned and operated by the City of Dallas.
•
Designated October 19, 1917 as a World War I military training
base.
Named
in memory of Lt. Moss Lee Love, a pilot killed in an airplane
crash in California in 1913.
First
air passenger service from Love Field was initiated September
17, 1927 destined for Chicago.
Charles
Lindbergh arrived at Love Field in his "Spirit of St.
Louis" on September 27, 1927.
During
the '40s, Love Field was reactivated as a major military modification
center.

Third and current terminal was placed in commission January
20, 1958.
•
Located in the heart of Dallas, Love Field sits on 1300 acres
of land.
