LOVE FIELD FACTS

Owned and operated by the City of Dallas.
Designated October 19, 1917 as a World War I military training base.
Named in memory of Lt. Moss Lee Love, a pilot killed in an airplane crash in California in 1913.
First air passenger service from Love Field was initiated September 17, 1927 destined for Chicago.
Charles Lindbergh arrived at Love Field in his "Spirit of St. Louis" on September 27, 1927.
During the '40s, Love Field was reactivated as a major military modification center.
Third and current terminal was placed in commission January 20, 1958.
Located in the heart of Dallas, Love Field sits on 1300 acres of land.
Over 5.9 million passengers used Love Field in 2004
249,400 aircraft operations in 2004 consisting of 129,031 commercial and 120,369 general aviation and military
Two airlines serving 60 cities throughout the United States
Three runways (1) 8800' X 150" (2) 7750' X 150' and (3) 6145' X 150' (diagonal).

FAA air traffic control tower providing service 24 hours a day.
Noise abatement procedures in effect for fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
Two-tiered landing fee system to encourage use of quieter aircraft.
Parking garages A and B provide 7,000 public parking spaces
Within close proximity to several hotels and motels.
Variety of ground transportation alternatives including taxis, shuttles and limousines.
U.S. Customs Service available on an on-call basis.
Airport generates more than $2 billion annually to the Dallas economy.
Estimated 24,243 jobs attributable to Love Field. Self-supporting through
reasonable fees and charges with no cost to the taxpayer.
The Love Field Conference Center offers business services, conference rooms,
individual work desks and catering for the business traveler.
